Welcome to Further Than Gods! I've created this webpage
in order to give everyone an overview of what we learned in Gods of CNN, and to teach those of you who did
not take the course about media literacy. Also, I have included extra information that I researched myself as extra
lessons so we could learn "Further Than Gods!"
What is media literacy and why should we study it?
Media literacy is the study of analyzing, evaluating, and communicating information
in print and non-print forms. Some of these forms include telecommunications and mass media.
There are six main reasons for why we should study media literacy. These reasons are: 1. We
live in a mediated environment, 2. Media literacy emphasizes critical thinking, 3. Being media literate is part of being an
educated citizen, 4. Media literacy promotes active participation in a media-sturated environment, 5. Media education helps
us to understand communication technologies, and 6. Media literacy has been integrated into all subject areas for K-12.
